Caregiver
A square-shaped silhouette dedicated to my mother. I wanted to capture and express how I perceived her as a child. My mother always wore large ponchos and denim skirts, often layering a skirt over pants. To me, she seemed monumental—I felt protected and supported by her. With this in mind, I created a stiff poncho reminiscent of armor, offering shelter. I used materials she gave me long ago—fabrics that originally belonged to my grandmother, my mother’s mother. The monumentality and rigidity of the silhouette symbolize my deep respect for the Mother who protects.
